Golf

Chart your own course

How does a rebel become a professional golfer? By refusing to follow the rules. Just because I golf, doesn't mean I hang out at stuffy country clubs all the time. I go for tournaments, but I've also been sky diving and tried lots of other crazy sports. And no matter what, I always keep my "cruisy" laidback Australian style. I like running on the beach, playing cricket and barbecuing lobster in my backyard. Golf might seem like a man's sport, but I learned it by following my Mom around the course. She is a great athlete, and she taught me that I could be anything I wanted — even a daredevil golfer.

Q & A

How many years have you participated in your sport?
15 years in total. Started when I was 8. Been professional for 2 years.
What is more important to you than golf?
My family and friends are so important to me. I am truly blessed for the great people in my life. Also my health — I'm very fortunate to have great health.
Do you have any other special talents?
I think I should be a rally car driver.
How do you see yourself?
I see myself as quite a few things... quiet sometimes — I love my down time, time to myself to reflect on things and just chill. But at the same time, I love to be loud and love to laugh a lot... bit of a smartarse at times but I am a very loyal loving person/friend who looks out for my loved ones and always only wants the best for them. Oh, and definitely a romantic.
What are things that inspire you?
People who are hard workers and don't sit waiting for things to happen. They go and chase what they want...
What is the greatest lesson you've ever learned?
Be true to yourself.
What are the things that encapsulate the way you live your life?
I love to have fun, love to laugh. I work hard on my career and relax and mooch out around family and friends.
What are the 3 biggest things you learned from your parents?
Do whatever makes you happy, respect your elders, laugh at yourself when things don't go your way on and off the course.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
Even though she isn't around anymore my Grandmother was tops and inspired me in every way possible.
What makes you unique?
The fact that on the golf course I am so laid back and relaxed. I'm seriously in my own little world when I step on the golfie and usually it continues off the course... I love to think positive and I always find a positive out of every situation, even in the worst situations.
What is the best advice you've received?
Don't be afraid to be your true self.
What quote best describes you?
Here for a good time not a long time.
What do you most value in your friends?
Their honesty and loyalty, their support, the fact they always have my back and I always have theirs... The fact that we have so much fun and we all click and everyday is a blessing when they're around.
