I grew up on Vancouver Island, off the west coast of Canada. The culture is very much influenced by the folklore of the native people. The night before I graduated from high school, my grandmother, Nana, gave me a bracelet of The Raven. In legends, The Raven created the Earth and all of its land, animals and trees. But he was also mischevious, and he tricked the powerful Sky Chief to bring light to the world. My bracelet is a constant reminder of The Raven, and my Nana telling me never to lose my wild side, because it can be a powerful force for good.
