Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, made its first and only visit outside the United States with much success as 42,083 devoted Canadian fans packed into Toronto’s Rogers Centre for the 10th stop of the 2010 season. It was another strong night for Oakley’s Ryan Villopoto, as he raced to his fifth win of the year.

An amateur supercross at Daytona the day after the pro race? That’s a near perfect fit, but it took the connections of 15-time National Champion Oakley’s Ricky Carmichael to complete the link. When Carmichael stepped away from racing motorcycles in 2007, he promised to give back to the sport, even though he was about to dive into a whole new career in car racing. Indeed, RC has not gone away, in fact, he’s giving back to the sport at a massive new level, and using his new connections in car racing to do it.

For Oakley rider Villopoto, the win was made even harder by a red flag off the start of the Supercross main event, which wiped out his early race lead. Veteran Grant Langston went down on the first lap of the race, which led to a red flag situation.
