Blake Williams, known to all in the FMX world as Bilko, is known for his enthusiasm. It takes enthusiasm to emerge from a tiny Australian outpost like Baxter, Victoria (population: 1,873) and win several State and National Supercross titles. It takes enthusiasm to make the switch from Supercross to Freestyle on a whim, especially when you should be home nursing your broken leg. And it takes enthusiasm to set the goal of medaling at X Games. We caught up with him to see what’s new in Bilko’s world:

How did Australia shape your riding?
I think it has a lot with my wild style and go-for-it approach. Aussies are just mad dogs.

    Trick you’re working on?
    Top secret for X Games…haha.

    Goals for 2009?
To medal at X and place Top 3 in Dew Tour.

    Heroes?
    Travis Pastrana

    Favorite people to ride with?
Sincs, Mase, Schuie, Balchy, Mini, Twitch.

Where do you see yourself settling down?
    In a retirement home.

Something about you we don’t know?
I finished high school and did a four-year apprenticeship.

    Favorite places to ride?
Schuies, home, Nate’s, Deegan’s and indoor crusty tours…

Advice you’d give a younger brother?
Don’t make as many stupid decisions as I have.

What is confidence and how important is it in FMX?
It’s everything when it comes to riding. Without it you will never be competitive. It’s hard to get back after a crash too…

Describe FMX to someone who doesn’t know what it is?
Doing stupid stunts that a motorcycle was never designed for.
